Half-Life 2 is a first-person shooting video game developed and published by Valve Corporation. It is a sequel to Half-Life of 1998 and was released in November 2004 after five years of development worth $ 40 million. During development, a large portion of the project was leaked and distributed online. The game was developed along with the Steam Valve Software and Source Engine. Happening after a few years of Half-Life events, the protagonist Gordon Freeman woke up by the mysterious G-Man to find that the world had been taken over by Alien Combine. After evading Combine forces, Gordon joins resistance members, including Barney Calhoun, a former Black Mesa security guard who works secretly as a Combine police officer; Dr. Elie Vance, former Black Mesa scientist, and resistance leader.Alex Vance, Elie's daughter; and Dr. Kleiner, the whimsical black misa scholar. After a failed attempt to move to the resistance base, Black Mesa East, from Kleiner Temporary Lab, Gordon advances on foot through the city's canal system. He gets on an airboat and fights his way to Black Mesa East, several miles from the city. Gordon was reintroduced to Eli and met another resisting science is Dr. Judith Mosman. Black Mesa East is under Combine attack, and Eli and Mossman are transferred to Nova Prospekt, which is Combine Prison. Gordon is separated from Alex, and runs through Ravenholm, a town full of zombies, with the help of his last survivor, Father Gregory. Gordon escapes from the city, discovers a front location of resistance, uses a dedicated sand cart intended to travel on a rickety coastal road to Nova Prospect, encounters patrolling and helps the resistance fend off raids. Gordon imposes a siege on the Nova Prospect using pheromone pods to control alien hordes of ants that invade the coast. He meets Alex in prison and they locate Elie, but he discovers that two seasons is a mixed detective. Before they can stop it, Two seasons transport themselves and Ellie to City Castle 17. Upon returning to Kleiner's lab, Gordon and Alex learned that the tele-transfer device had been disrupted and that a week had passed; during their absence, the resistance had completely massed against the combination. In battle, Alex is captured by the crowd and taken to the castle. Gordon fights on his way with the help of Dog and Barney. Gordon is then captured in a "confiscation room" that combines destroying all his weapons except for the gravitational rifle, which is mistakenly shipped by a force field, allowing Gordon to fight his way to the castle. Gordon was eventually caught in the transport pod and transferred to Brienne's office, where he and Mosman are waiting with Elie and Alex in captivity. Breen explains his plans to increase the occupation of mankind with the plural, contrary to what he said to Mossman. Angered, two seasons release Gordon, Alex, and Eli before Brin could transport them out of the world. Brien tries to escape through a gate, but Gordon destroys the gate's reactor with a gravity gun. Just before the castle was destroyed by a subsequent explosion, the time was frozen. G-Man appears again, praising Gordon for his actions in City 17.
